Archaeology of Lincolnville: The Kelton Family Site

You may know that archaeology happens in St. Augustine, but did you know that over 30 sites have been excavated in Linconville?  FPAN is pround to partner with the City of St. Augustine and the Excelsior Cultural Center in on of the first interpretive displays on the findings from archaeological investigations on a turn of the century Linconville Household.  Visit the Museum's website for directions, or view the panels from your computer at home.

St. Augustine Archaeology Association Meeting/Lecture

On the first Tuesday of each month the St. Augustine Archaeology Association holds their regular meeting.  After the meeting, invited lecturers provide a talk on a current and relevant topic in archaeology.  For upcoming meeting dates and speakers visit the SAAA website.

ARCHIVE OF Past Programs

Legacy Program

Center staff works during the school year with the Flagler County Public Schools' Legacy Program at Princess Place.  The Legacy Program attends to at-risk students by offering an alternative, outdoor-classroom environment.  Students assist in the identification of sites at this county owned park, particularly in areas threatened by heavy pedestrian and equestrian use.

 

Archaeology Goes to Camp!

Saturday June 5, 2010 9 am - 4 pm

Markland House, Flagler College, St. Augustine

Join FPAN staff for some summer fun and learn archaeology activities that are great for kids of all ages.  Activities include: PB&J Excavation, Observation and Inference exercise, Classification, Underwater Archaeology, Art, Coquina at the Castillo, Cordage, and Atl-atl Antics.  We'll endthe session with our very own Archaeology Olympics to get your ready for your own summer offerings.

Intended audience are summer camp counselors and homeschool teachers.  Registration is $10 and does not include lunch.  To register contact Amber at aweiss@flagler.edu or call 904-819-6498.

 

 

Project Archaeology Workshop

Cumberland Island National Seashore

Teachers!  Join us for a 1st in northeast Florida, a combined Florida/Georgia Project Archaeology workshop ON Cumberland Island.  This two day offering includes hands-on, interactive activities using both Intrigue of the Past and the new Investigating Shelter materials.  Registration is $10 and includes ferry, overnight lodging, dinner, and educational materials.  For $15 more breakfast and lunch will be included.  Registration is required and will fill up so don't wait!  For more information see attached flier or email Amber at aweiss@flagler.edu or 904-816-6498.
