Society for Historical Archaeology 2010 Annual Conference
Join us at Amelia Plantation for the annual SHA conference January 6-10, 2010. The theme for this year's conference will be "Coastal Connections: Integrating Terrestsrial and Underwater Archaeology." Conference attendees will experience presentations and workshops on cutting-edge research, techniques, methods, and theory at this 1350-acre island conference center. Off-site tours will take participants back in time at near-by Kingsley Plantation, Ft. Clinch, and St. Augustine--the nation's oldest continuously occupied city dating to 1565 (and you thought Jamestown was historic).
The offical Public Day for the conference will be held that Saturday from 10 - 4 pm at Kingsley Plantation (National Park) with site tours, hands-on activities for learners of all ages, and presentations by plantation archaeologists from the southeastern United States. Save the date (January 10, 2010) and look for more information coming this fall to the FPAN website.

St. Augustine Archaeology Association Meeting/Lecture
On the first Tuesday of each month the St. Augustine Archaeology Association holds their regular meeting. After the meeting, invited lecturers provide a talk on a current and relevant topic in archaeology. For upcoming meeting dates and speakers visit the SAAA website.
Legacy Program
Center staff works during the school year with the Flagler County Public Schools' Legacy Program at Princess Place. The Legacy Program attends to at-risk students by offering an alternative, outdoor-classroom environment. Students assist in the identification of sites at this county owned park, particularly in areas threatened by heavy pedestrian and equestrian use.
